This must be every childs favourite engine, and as I am intending to exhibit layouts then Thomas had to be part of my stock collection.
The basic construction comprises the glueing of the face from the ERTL body to the front of a Jinty body where the smokebox door has been filed flat. A lick of Caledonian Blue paint and we're ready for action on the 3mm version of Sodor !

This was passed my way sometime back for use on Northcott - well everyone must have something GWR somewhere !

Another acquisition was 34066 Spitfire - just a standard Merchant Navy painted up to look like a West Country .... look's OK to me !

Following on from my article on converting Merchant Navy class locos to West Country locos, I took this nose-to-nose shot of the differences.
The main difference is in the length of the front step in front of the smokebox door.
