Ringbourne

Trackwork built - awaiting scenics & stock.

Ringbourne is a busy through station somewhere in commuter belt country near Reading - the track layout was modified in 1963 after Beeching passed by, although the line is kept open due to being a diversion line for cross-country services.

Trains from both the Southern and Western regions pass through here - a station stop is a necessity as Ringbourne is at the start of a single-line section, which can prove troublesome when main-line passenger trains are diverted through here when the direct Reading - Redhill line is blocked.

There is a small yard with some freight traffic sorted here and a branch leads away to Aldermaston, which is regularly visited by nucleur flask trains, as well as a single-car DMU terminating at it's own little branch station.

It is expected that the layout will be run two to a 1965 (green diesel, bit of steam!) timetable to allow some of my favourite WR loco classes to run !!

This layout is modelled to 14.2mm gauge, and represents a past effort by myself and Colin Wilson of the Herts Group of the 3mm Society to give our local railway club a 3mm scale exhibition layout. I have taken the layout on as a personal project due to my own involvement from the beginning, but I'm sure that Colin will want a go at the controls when I've finished.

Expect to see ......
